THE SEMINAR “DIALOGUE: ECONOMIC PICTURE OF VIETNAM IN QUARTER 1 AND CHALLENGES FOR THE 2023 ECONOMIC GOALS”

On May 12th, 2023, the International Economics Department of the University of Foreign Trade organized a scientific seminar with the theme: “Dialogue: Economic Picture of QTR1 and Challenges for the 2023 Economic Goals.” The event took place in the A901 International Conference Room at the Foreign Trade University. Its purpose was to provide a platform for experts, professors, researchers, students, and scholars to discuss economic issues in Vietnam, update information on the economic situation in QTR1, and explore the challenges facing Vietnam’s economy in 2023.

The seminar featured guest speaker Associate Professor, Doctor Bui Quang Tuan, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics. From the Foreign Trade University, attendees included Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee – Chairwoman of the University Council; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Xuan Binh, Dean of the Faculty of International Economics; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tu Thuy Anh, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Economics and Management; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vu Hoang Nam, Head of the Scientific Management Department; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Tuong Anh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Economics; Dr. Luong Thi Ngoc Oanh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Economics; Dr. Nguyen Thu Hang, Deputy Director of the FTU Innovation and Incubation Space; and Dr. Bui Duy Linh, Deputy Head of the Department of Communications & Community Relations, along with other faculty members and researchers. Additionally, the seminar saw participation from nearly 100 professors, researchers, students, and scholars from the Foreign Trade University

In her opening remarks, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and chairwoman of the University Council highlighted the current state of Vietnam’s economy in QTR1 and the challenges it faces in the context of global and regional economic fluctuations. She expressed hope that the seminar would clarify the economic situation in Vietnam in QTR1 and the challenges for Vietnam’s economy in 2023, providing multidimensional perspectives to scientists, lecturers, and students on the context and direction of Vietnam’s economy in the year 2023. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy also extended her gratitude and presented commemorative gifts to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Quang Tuan, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics, who had accepted the invitation to speak at the seminar.

During his presentation, Professor, Doctor Bui Quang Tuan, Director of Vietnam Institute of Economics, discussed the theme “Vietnamese Economy in 2022 and the First Four Months of 2023: Current Status, Issues, and Prospects.” He emphasized the achievements and results that Vietnam’s economy has achieved. Additionally, he highlighted some of the difficulties and challenges that Vietnam’s economy has faced in recent times. Finally, Professor, Doctor Bui Quang Tuan provided insights into the economic outlook in the coming period, prospects for Vietnam’s economy, and some policy implications for the government.

At the end of the presentation, the seminar received numerous questions and discussions from experts, lecturers, and students. The discussion session was moderated by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Xuan Binh, Dean of the Faculty of International Economics, along with guest speaker Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Quang Tuan. The speakers shared and discussed various aspects of the economy in QTR1, 2023, as well as the challenges in economic activities, considering the unstable global situation affecting domestic conditions. In the closing remarks of the discussion session, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Xuan Binh summarized the economic picture of QTR1 and the challenges facing Vietnam’s economy in 2023.

At the end of the seminar, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Xuan Binh, on behalf of the Foreign Trade University and the organizing committee, extended gratitude to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Quang Tuan, the guest speaker of the seminar. The seminar concluded successfully and received positive feedback from participating scientists, lecturers, researchers, and students.
