WORKSHOP “COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP US-VIETNAM: PERSPECTIVES FROM ECONOMIC, POLITICAL, INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS”

On December 1, 2023, the Faculty of International Economics, Foreign Trade University organized a discussion with the topic: “Vietnam – United States comprehensive strategic partnership: perspective from economics, politics, international relations” in conference room H303 to help teachers, graduate students, and graduate students update information on international economic relations between Vietnam and the United States based on a multidimensional perspective. The seminar is part of the course to foster knowledge of economics and international economics for foreign language lecturers at Foreign Trade University.

The workshop had the participation of Dr. Nguyen Ky Son, Director of the Americas Department, the Party Central Committee’s Foreign Affairs Committee. On the side of the Faculty of International Economics, the discussion had the participation of Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Xuan Binh, Dean of the Faculty of International Economics; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Tuong Anh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Economics. The discussion also had the participation of lecturers in the department, foreign language lecturers in the training course and fellows and graduate students majoring in International Economics, including teachers in Facility 2 participates online.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Xuan Binh emphasized that this is one of the expert connection activities in the lecture series of the training course on economics and international economics designed and developed by the Faculty of International Economics. The seminar is organized to provide updated, practical and useful information for teachers, and at the same time create a forum for teachers participating in the course and other interested teachers to exchange and discuss. Discuss contemporary international economic issues. Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Xuan Binh said that the Faculty will continue to invite experts and researchers to present new topics and trends to further integrate knowledge and practice in teaching activities organized by the Faculty.

 In his presentation at the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Ky Son presented an overview of the history of Vietnam – United States relations over time and argued that upgrading relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership with the United States would be a good idea. Ky is a major breakthrough for Vietnam in international relations, something that not many countries in the world can do. Dr. Nguyen Ky Son also presented the basic principles in international relations that Vietnam always upholds and emphasized that the Vietnam – United States relationship is a mutually beneficial relationship. Dr. Nguyen Ky Son also said that although opportunities have opened up from upgrading the strategic partnership with the United States, they are not long-lasting but only temporary and Vietnam needs drastic solutions to take advantage of them. take advantage of this opportunity.

At the end of his presentation, the speaker received many questions from the teachers, related to many issues such as the impact of this event on the relationship between Vietnam and other countries as well as challenges and obstacles in the relationship between Vietnam and the United States in the future after upgrading the relationship. The teachers’ questions were discussed enthusiastically and received satisfactory answers from the speaker.

The seminar ended successfully and received positive feedback from the teachers participating in the Course and students of the Faculty.
