On March 21st<\/sup>, 2024, the Faculty of International Economics and the Student Support Center organized the kick-off ceremony for the International Quant Championship 2024. This is a beneficial playground that provides FTU students, as well as students from the Faculty of International Economics, an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to practical fields in quantitative analysis, economics, and finance. Over many seasons, the IQC competition has consistently attracted great interest from many FTU students in general and students from the Faculty of International Economics in particular. In fact, many teams from our university have achieved high rankings at both national and international levels.<\/p>\n

Attending the event, representing the Foreign Trade University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong – Vice President of the University; Dr. Hoang Tuan Dung – Director of the Student Support Center; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Tuong Anh – Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Economics; Dr. Luong Thi Ngoc Oanh – Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Economics, and other lecturers from various specialized departments\/institutes.<\/p>\n

Representing WorldQuant were Mr. Ngo Duc Duy – Deputy General Director; Mr. Do The Cuong – Regional Research Director; and Ms. Pham Phuong Anh – Head of Strategy and Operations.<\/p>\n

In her speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong emphasized the University’s policy of expanding new multi-disciplinary and multi-field training programs that are updated and in line with the needs of the labor market and development trends in Vietnam and around the world. One of the main directions of the University’s new programs is the integration of economics and business with digital technology and data science to seize the opportunities brought about by the digital transformation revolution. Moreover, the University is continuously building and expanding its training ecosystem in Information Technology and Data Science. Trends such as global economic integration, digital transformation, and Data Science are gradually becoming basic knowledge and skills that students need to equip themselves with. Therefore, gaining experience in a global-scale competition in a new field like Quantitative Finance through IQC will help students refine and practice the knowledge they have learned and apply it to real business models.<\/p>\n

Following the information shared by senior personnel from WorldQuant, students posed many interesting questions and received answers to better understand IQC as well as the opportunities and benefits of participating in the competition. Consequently, prospective contestants also learned how to register and build effective teams to maximize their chances of success in the competition rounds.<\/p>\n

We hope that this year’s IQC 2024 competition will truly explode and attract many dynamic and enthusiastic teams from the Foreign Trade University.<\/p>\n
